Abstract
El documento destaca lo que se entiende por modernización del sector de soja en el Brasil señalando las transformaciones tecnológicas, económicas y sociales en la producción, distribución, procesamiento y consumo del grano. Indica que esta modernización, además de absorber muchas de las transformaciones de la actividad económica como un todo, pasa también a producir reflejos importantes para el conjunto de la economía. Así mismo, la estructura y dinámica de esa modernización sectorial de la agricultura no posee formas automáticas y exclusivas de las transformaciones del sector de producción agrícola. Al contrario, ellas son componentes importantes de un sistema más amplio conocido como complejo agroindustrial. Agrega que a esa modernización del sector soja está ligado entre otros factores, el aumento y diversificación de las demandas del sector urbano, el crecimiento del comercio exterior, la política económica y las políticas cambiarias, fiscal crediticia de precios, la innovación tecnológica, la disponibiidad de área y el desenvolvimiento de un segmento industrial de medios de producción industriales para la agricultura, como por ejemplo, insumos modernos, maquinaria y equipo. También hace referencia al mercado nacional como internacional. Señala que el objetivo de este trabajo es discutir más detenidamente algunos de los factores que interactúan para posibilitar no sólo el proceso de modernización de la producción de soja en Brasil, sino también constituir un amplio mercado para el producto.
