Abstract
La teoría de la innovación inducida concibe que el cambio técnico surge de las fuerzas del mercado y responde a ellas y, por lo tanto, se considera endógeno al sistema económico. Por lo tanto, la teoría proporciona un estándar de eficiencia contra el cual se puede evaluar el cambio técnico, en términos tanto del factor de sesgo de la tecnología como de la asignación de recursos de investigación. Mis comentarios estarán dirigidos hacia el tema de esta conferencia, bajo la cual deseo explorar la aplicabilidad de la teoría de la innovación inducida al cambio técnico en la agricultura latinoamericana. Por aplicabilidad, deseo analizar tres cuestiones principales, la validez de la teoría, su poder explicativo cuando se aplica a las condiciones latinoamericanas y las recomendaciones de política que surgen de la teoría.
