Abstract
Con el propósito de brindar un mejor servicio en la Asistencia Técnica Agropecuaria a los pequeños y medianos productores salvadoreños, el Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal (CENTA), ha complementado la Metodología de Extensión Agropecuaria llamada: Extensión Dirigida a Objetivos (E.D.O.). El propósito principal buscado, es elevar el nivel de vida de los pequeños productores con miras a que se vuelvan productores más eficientes. Los principales objetivos que componen esta metodología son: definición de objetivos precisos, visitas periódicas del extensionista a las fincas de los productores, capacitación permanente del extensionista; aplicación de un programa de trabajo claramente definido. En esta oportunidad se presentan las experiencias de trabajo desarrollado por la Agencia de Extensión Agropecuaria del CENTA en el Municipio de San Juan Opico en el Departamento de la Libertad, El Salvador, ejecutando la Metodología de Extensión Dirigida a Objetivos E.D.O. Dicha experiencia se compara con los técnicos extensionistas del INTA-Nicaragua, mediante una exposición del contenido de la Metodología.
