O Ministério de Minas e Energia, por intermédio do Projeto de Cooperação Técnica com o IICA: Universalização do acesso à energia elétrica BRA/IICA/12/001, apoia atividades socialmente justas e ambientalmente corretas para os beneficiados do Programa Luz para Todos – LpT. Os projetos que envolvem as atividades demandadas agregam novas tecnologias e formas de capacitação, impulsionando assim o desenvolvimento sustentável das comunidades beneficiadas pelo Programa.
Com a chegada da energia elétrica, muitas famílias evoluíram de uma produção de subsistência para um processo de comercialização do excedente de seus produtos, o que contribui para a geração de trabalho no campo, resgatando assim a cidadania e a dignidade a uma faixa significativa da população, que sempre esteve à margem do desenvolvimento. Entre as comunidades beneficiadas pelo Programa Luz para Todos – LpT, o Ministério direciona especial atenção para povos indígenas e comunidades quilombolas, através da Coordenação de Eletrificação Indígenas e Quilombolas, realizando a implementação de sistemas de eletrificação em inúmeras comunidades em todo o Brasil. Diversas comunidades Pataxó estão recebendo energia elétrica ou tendo sua antiga rede revitalizada pelo Programa Luz Para Todos nos anos. Diante da expressiva população Pataxó atendida pelo Programa e de suas especificidades sociais, culturais e ambientais, a elaboração de uma cartilha com orientações sobre o adequado uso da energia adquire enorme importância. Esta VERSÃO da cartilha, apresentada neste documento, está alinhado a esta diretriz geral, assim como à abordagem antropológica e pedagógica participativa, que tem pautado a relação do Programa Luz Para Todos com comunidades indígenas.
