Antigua and Barbuda. Significant achievements 2010

Abstract

The main activities carried out by the Institute in Antigua and Barbuda during 2010 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening issues such as veterinary, livestock, safety, costs, production, agricultural development, risk management, good practices. manufacturing, agribusiness, insurance, natural disaster management, school gardens, and food preservation. Finally, work was done on combating greenhouse gasses, on the inclusion of youth, drying products in the sun, on the production of vegetables and fruits, such as mangoes, and on the control of diseases, such as avian influenza and bovine tuberculosis.

Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Antigua y Barbuda durante el 2010, con respecto a las necesidades e intereses del país, fortaleciendo en temas como veterinaria, ganadería, inocuidad, costos, producción, desarrollo agrícola, gestión de riesgos, buenas prácticas de manufactura, agronegocios, seguros, manejo de desastres naturales, huertos escolares y conservación de alimentos. Finalmente, se trabajó en combatir los gases efecto invernadero, en la inclusión de la juventud, secado de productos al sol, en la producción de hortalizas y frutas, como el mango y en el control de enfermedades, como la influenza aviar y la tuberculosis bovina.
