El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el impacto económico del Programa Moscamed México y del Programa Regional Moscamed, en el país y en el estado de Chiapas. Durante los 31 años del Programa Moscamed (1978-2008), México ha obtenido grandes beneficios entre los que destacan sus crecientes exportaciones de frutas y hortalizas de alto valor a mercados como los de Estados Unidos de América y Japón, que están libres de mosca del Mediterráneo; condición de la que también goza México desde 1982, gracias a la estrategia exitosa de dicho programa. Contiene: 1 Antecedentes del programa Moscamed. 2 Metodología. 3 Estrategia integrada de control de la mosca del Mediterráneo en México. 4 Producción y comercialización de frutas y hortalizas susceptibles de ser atacadas por la mosca del Mediterráneo. 5 Estructura de beneficios. 6 Estructura de costos del programa Moscamed. 7 Análisis económico. 8 Conclusiones y recomendaciones.
