Abstract
Un informe sobre Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo preparado para Jamaica por la Comisión de las Naciones Unidas sobre Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo (CNUMAD) identifica los principales impactos ambientales en la agricultura; estos son a) erosión y sedimentación; b) caudal de río menos estable; c) agroquímicos en aguas subterráneas yd) intrusión salina. También señala que la erosión del suelo agrava los peligros de deslizamientos de tierra e inundaciones. Algunas de las características más importantes que dan lugar a estos impactos ambientales se analizan a continuación.
A report on Environment and Development prepared for Jamaica by the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development (UNCED) identifies the main environmental impacts on agriculture; These are a) erosion and sedimentation; b) less stable river flow; c) agrochemicals in groundwater and d) saline intrusion. It also notes that soil erosion exacerbates the dangers of landslides and floods. Some of the most important characteristics that give rise to these environmental impacts are discussed below.
