Abstract
El frijol es un producto que se consume casi a diario en Centroamérica. Hay una variedad de tipos de frijol como el ICTA Ligero, ICTA Sayaxche, ICTA Peten, ICTA Super Chiva. Para producir más frijol las plantas se deben de dejar 25 cm entre cada planta, poner dos o tres granos por postura, se puede sembrar 2 surcos de frijol en cada calle de milpa (evita que se pasen enfermedades entre plantas), hay que entrerrar el fertilizante a la par de la semilla (si se siembra en ladera se entierra arriba de la semilla), el abono se utiliza diluido con agua y con la boquilla de la manguera abierta y se echa directamente en el tronco de la mata.
El gorgojo es el enemigo del frijol. Algunas formas de guardar el frijol para que no lo pique el gorgojo o le dé moho son colocarlo en tres sacos que estén secos y sin agujeros para que no entre ningún insecto
