Abstract
Presenta un análisis evaluativo sobre los riesgos naturales de la región Trifinio: sísmicos, inundaciones, huracanes, erupciones volcánicas, deslizamientos y erosión-sedimentación, ilustrado con mapas, gráficos y fotografías. Identifica las áreas de mayor incidencia de los desastres naturales que amenazan la región y efectúa recomendaciones sobre estudios específicos de riesgos, que deben realizarse para el desarrollo de proyectos de inversión. Básicamente, la finalidad del análisis evaluativo es contar con información sobre fenómenos naturales violentos que ocurren en la región del Trifinio, y emitir recomendaciones para proteger adecuamente de sus efectos destructores a la población y las inversiones que se efectúen para su desarrollo económico y social. La información es presentada bajo los siguientes aspectos: (1) el proyecto Trifinio, antecedentes; objetivos del estudio; metodología empleada; (2) desastres naturales en la región analizados en el marco de la región centroamericana y específicamente para la región; (3) planeamiento físico de la región Trifinio para mitigar los efectos de los desastres naturales, incluyendo microzonificación y planeamiento; proyectos de desarrollo en la región; y transferencia tecnológica.
