Suriname. Significant achievements 2014

Abstract

The main activities carried out by the Institute in Suriname during 2014 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening on topics such as composting, safety, agritourism, quality of life, risk management, organic farming, soil management and water. Also, good agricultural practices, grafting, orchards and in natural disaster management were supported. Finally, work was done on fly control, on the value chains of cassava, fruits, organic chillies, vegetables, watermelon, eggplant, citrus, mango and small ruminants.

Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Suriname durante el 2014, con respecto a las necesidades e intereses del país, fortaleciendo en temas como compostaje, inocuidad, agroturismo, calidad de vida, gestión de riesgos, agricultura orgánica, manejo de suelo y agua. Asimismo, se apoyó las buenas prácticas agrícolas, portainjertos, huertos y en el manejo de desastres naturales. Finalmente, se trabajó en el control de la mosca, en las cadenas de valor de la yuca, frutas, chiles orgánicos, vegetales, sandía, berenjena, cítricos, mango y pequeños rumiantes.
