Abstract
El documento de una explicación acerca de lo que tradicionalmente El Salvador ha buscado la eficiencia agroeconómica de la producción agropecuaria sin considerar las implicaciones presentes y futuras para el ambiente. Este enfoque ha influido para que la mayoría de los recursos naturales estén degradados y constituyan una fuerte limitante para el desarrollo socioeconómico del país; además casi nunca se ha considerado la estrecha relación que existe entre la producción agropecuaria, el agua de consumo, la energía, la salud y el bienestar social y económico de la población. Queriendo contribuir a la solución de esta problemática, el CENTA y el proyeco IICA-Holanda Laderas C.A. han considerado que es necesario iniciar una estrategia participativa de articulación operativa entre las diferentes instituciones y proyectos gubernamentales que están trabajando en conservación de los recursos naturales y la agricultura sostenible.
